Sail Maker/Designer/Back Woods Tour Guide

Born in St. Paul, MN

 

37 years experience of fabric construction and 3-D pattern making experience in fabrics ranging from silk to Dacron.

15 years experience in professional kitchen management, food inventory management, food safety management 

8 years experience splicing a wide variety of line including but not limited to: double-braid, 3-strand, and 16-strand polyester; swaging shrouds, stays and luff wires in various lays to 3/16 diameter. 

20 years of overall small craft experience.

8 years small boat sailing and rig design experience. Presently sailing a 12’ Porta-bote and a 15’ Chrysler Mutineer and a Compact 16.

Designs to my credit: Porta- pac, designed to carry seats, transom and oars for the Porta-Bote folding boat, jibs and mainsail for custom Porta-Bote rigs; Dacron spinnaker sock for Chrysler Buccaneer Class One Design; Was instrumental in the design specifications of the suit (6) of sails for our 31 ft. 9 ton heavy displacement ketch (A Weston Farmer Tahitiana). The largest sail, the Genoa (353 sq ft), stands at 34 ft by 22 ft across the foot. Custom Black sails for a Rohdes 19 including an appliqué on the spinnaker. 

Skills in custom jig making, all hand tools used in sail repair and sail making; a variety of fid types; setup, use, and maintenance of a variety of sewing machines that include home, industrial, and specialty (Sailrite LSZ); decorative rope work; marlinspike seamanship; riveting tools; swaging tools; riggers vise care and operation; food vacuum techniques, packaging and preparation development, recipe creation and storage including end result product quality research; interior design, color consulting; project documentation including: video, photography and computer aided graphic manipulation.
